Part 3: Summer Programme week 1- and what a week it was! πππ¦
Our Summer Programme has been packed with smiles, laughter, creativity and lots of fun!
We've been getting our hands messy with pottery and painting, showing off our green fingers while planting, making music together, exploring ICT, creating our very own calming bunnies, and adding a splash of colour with tie-dye.
We've enjoyed adventures to the park and library, had some very special feathered visitors when the owls came to see us, became mini chefs making delicious pizzas and even rolled up our sleeves to help our local Pride in Carnew. π
Every day has been filled with new experiences, great friendships, plenty of giggles! Roll on week 2! π₯³

Last week, our school community came together to celebrate the retirement of our wonderful Principal, Mr. Kevin OβDonnell, after 23 years of dedicated leadership at Scoil AodΓ‘n Naofa.
It was an afternoon filled with gratitude, laughter, music, memories and more than a few tears as pupils, staff, retired staff, the Board of Management, members of the Parents Association, and Kevinβs family gathered to honour someone who has given so much to our school.
Through heartfelt presentations, speeches, poems and music, we celebrated Kevinβs unwavering dedication, kindness and leadership, and thanked him for shaping Scoil AodΓ‘n Naofa into the warm, welcoming and caring school it is today.
Our pupils expressed their appreciation through a selection of performances, including βThe Rattlinβ Bogβ, βHere Comes the Sunβ, βKilleaghβ, βTime of Your Lifeβ, βIβll Be There for Youβ and 'A Million Dreams'. The celebration concluded with a personalised tribute to the tune of βThe Hills of Donegalβ - a fitting farewell to a proud Donegal man who will forever hold a special place in the heart of our school.
Kevin has been so much more than a Principal. He has been a leader, a mentor, a champion for every child, a colleague, a friend, and the heart of our school for over two decades. His kindness, calm guidance and unwavering belief in the potential of every pupil have shaped generations of children and inspired those who have had the privilege of working alongside him.
Kevin, thank you for every word of encouragement, every smile, every challenge overcome, and every decision made with children at its heart.
From everyone at Scoil AodΓ‘n Naofa, we wish you a long, healthy and happy retirement. Thank you for everything. π
βSo raise your voices one and all, let the rafters ring today,
For twenty years of kindness shown in his caring, gentle way.
Heβs rarely cross, includes us all, and helps us stand up tall,
Three cheers for Mr. OβDonnell from the hills of Donegal!β π

On Wednesday, our school community came together to celebrate our End of Year Mass and to say a very special thank you to Fr. Casey as he prepares for his retirement.
Staff, pupils and parents of Scoil AodΓ‘n Naofa surprised Fr. Casey with a personalised song to the tune of βWay Down in the County Kerryβ - a fitting tribute to our much-loved Kerry man. There wasnβt a dry eye in the church as our school community joined together in gratitude for the kindness, guidance, friendship and joy that Fr. Casey has shared with us over so many years.
Presentations were also made on behalf of our pupils, staff, Parents Association and Board of Management in recognition of Fr. Caseyβs unwavering dedication and commitment to our school community. His support, encouragement, sense of humour and genuine care for every child and family have left a lasting mark on our school, and for that we will be forever grateful.
While we are sad to see him retire, we wish Fr. Casey every happiness, good health and blessing in this new chapter. He will always hold a very special place in the heart of Scoil AodΓ‘n Naofa.
π
βOh Fr Casey donβt forget us
Though retirementβs calling now
Youβve baptised us and guided us
And always showed us how.
You are kind and full of laughter
A priest so good and true
And wherever the road leads you now
Donβt forget that we love you.β β€οΈ
